Topstep vs Lucid: monthly Combine or one-time LucidFlex

Both 50K accounts target $3,000 with a $2,000 end-of-day drawdown and an optional daily loss limit. Topstep bills monthly, needs a best day under 55% and charges $149 to activate unless you pick the no-fee path. LucidFlex is a one-time fee with no activation, a 40% best-day rule and a floor that locks at the start plus $100.

Where they differ

The best-day rule. Topstep wants your best day at or under 55% of total profit. LucidFlex wants 40%, or 50% if you buy the add-on. On a $3,000 target that's a $1,650 cap per day at Topstep and $1,200 at Lucid. Check your own days in the consistency calculator.

Minimum days. Topstep: two, because of the 55% rule. LucidFlex at 40%: three.

The lock. Topstep's floor stops at your starting balance. Lucid's stops $100 above it. On a 50K: Topstep locks at $50,000, Lucid at $50,100 once you close at $52,100.

Contracts. Topstep allows 5 minis on the 50K, Lucid 4.

Cost to go funded. Topstep: $149 activation on the standard path, $0 on the no activation fee path that costs $95 a month. Lucid: $0.

After you pass

Both pay 90/10 on the funded account. Lucid moves your floor straight to the locked level when you request a payout, even if it hadn't got there yet. Topstep resets the Maximum Loss Limit to $0 after your first payout. Either way, the first payout removes cushion. The payout rules guide puts both next to the other firms, and the Topstep XFA page has the full Topstep side.

Which one fits you

  • You make most of your money on one or two big days: Topstep. 55% leaves more room than 40%.
  • You hate monthly bills and want no activation fee: LucidFlex.
  • You want a hard stop on bad days: turn the daily limit on at either firm. Both make it optional at checkout.

Topstep's Combine is simulated 1:1 in FundedSim. Lucid isn't yet, but its drawdown works like Topstep's end-of-day limit, so the Topstep 50K is a good practice partner; track the 40% rule with the calculator.

Questions people actually ask

Is Lucid's 40% consistency rule harder than Topstep's 55%?

Yes. On a $3,000 target, Lucid's 40% means a best day of $1,200 or less keeps the target where it is; Topstep's 55% allows $1,650. Lucid also needs at least three days at 40%, or two with its 50% add-on.

Where does the drawdown stop trailing?

Topstep's Maximum Loss Limit locks at your starting balance. LucidFlex locks at the starting balance plus $100, once your closing balance clears the start plus the drawdown plus $100.
