Apex Trader Funding: End of Day vs Intraday evals, with the real numbers

Apex sells two eval families: End of Day, where the threshold trails your closing balance and a daily loss limit pauses you for the day, and Intraday, where the threshold trails your peak during the day and there's no daily loss limit. Both are one-time purchases with 30 days to pass, and both are usually sold with a big coupon.

The list price is what Apex shows before a coupon. In practice Apex runs a discount most of the time, so the coupon price is what most people pay. Every eval runs for 30 calendar days with no resets: miss the target in time and you buy a new one.

Same targets, same drawdown amounts, cheaper. The catch is how the threshold moves. It follows your peak balance during the session, not your closing balance. On Rithmic and WealthCharts it stops trailing once it reaches the profit target balance. On Tradovate it keeps trailing. There's no daily loss limit on the Intraday eval.

The difference in one example

Take a 50K account and a trade that runs up $1,500 and comes back to flat before you close it.

That's why the cheaper eval isn't the easier one for traders who hold winners through pullbacks.

Daily loss limit on End of Day accounts

The End of Day eval has a daily loss limit ($1,000 on the 50K). It's checked in real time and counts open positions. Hit it and Apex closes your positions and locks you out until the 6 PM ET reset. The account keeps going. It's a pause, not a fail, but the loss still sits under your trailing threshold.

After you pass: the PA

You get seven days to activate your Performance Account. Activation is $59 on Intraday accounts and $119 to $159 on End of Day accounts, or $0 if you bought the No Activation Fee version of the eval.

The PA has its own rules:

What it really costs

With a coupon, an Apex eval is cheap per attempt. The 30-day clock is what makes it add up: if you're not close by week three, you're usually buying another one. Three 50K End of Day attempts at the coupon price is $165, plus $139 to activate the PA when you pass.

Practice it before you pay

The simulator runs every Apex End of Day and Intraday account above with the published rules, including the PA tiers, the payout checks, the six-payout close and the inactivity rule. Pick the exact account you'd buy and see how your normal week treats it.

Questions people actually ask

Is the Apex Intraday eval easier because it's cheaper?

Cheaper, not easier. The Intraday threshold follows your peak balance during the session, so a winning trade you give back can still raise your floor. The End of Day eval only moves the threshold at the close, which is more forgiving for traders who let trades breathe.

What happens when I hit the daily loss limit on an Apex End of Day eval?

Your positions are closed and you're done for the day. The account survives and you trade again after the 6 PM ET reset. The loss still counts against your trailing threshold, so a few DLL days in a row can still finish the account.

How many payouts can I take from an Apex PA?

Six. After the sixth approved payout Apex closes the PA. Each payout needs five qualifying days, the 50% consistency rule and a balance above the safety net.

Blow it here, not on a paid eval

Run the same rules on your own trades in the simulator. Free, no card, and a blown account costs you nothing but pride.
